There is great big city, on a great big lake, called Chicago. When the sun goes down, it is wide awake!

Summer is almost here.....

Finally, after a long and cold winter, summer is almost here! Things I love and am excited about summer:

* BBQing
* Being tan
* LOLLAPOLOOZA
* Farmers market around the corner
* Fresh fruit
* Going to the beach
* People coming to visit
* Wearing dresses and skirts
* Linen pants
* Eating (and drinking) outside or by open walls
* Flip flops
* Baseball
* Going to college roommate's weddings
* Freckles
* Cold beer on a warm day

Let the fun begin :)

Silly Northerners

"That is the great thing about your Northerners. You think it is a great day just because the sun comes out. Sure, it is only 35 degrees, but the sun is out, it must be a great day!"

Yup! It is the little things in life that keep us going up here in the artic!

How long.......

* Do I have to work some where until I stop pausing when I answer the phone to remind myself that I no longer work at Kodiaks. I should not answer it, "Thanks for calling Kodiaks, how may I help you?"

* Until I no longer think "Who do we appreciate" when I count the numbers 2, 4, 6, 8?

* Will it be until I hear a song and not think of the first time I heard it?

* Until old episodes of Greys Anatomy (or even the recap of old shows) will no longer make me cry?

* Until I feel like a grown up and not that I am just playing?

* Do I have to live here and look out my window and feel excited and yet overwhelmed that THIS is where I live?

* Will it be until I play Euchre again?

It is official....

Since I filled out my final paper work today, I thought it was time to document my experience. Many of you know, but some of you do not, that I have a new job. I am not putting in here what company it is with as I do not want to be googled so if you are curious I would love to tell you :) Here is how it happened:

End of January I am at work and I get a phone call. I assume it is another annoying client because they are the only ones who remember my name. She was a recruiter from a different company and they were hiring. She had written down my name in her files after I had waited on her one afternoon. She wanted to know if I was interested in switching jobs? I replied no, I was happy begging for hours in a part time retail job. She just would not take no for an answer :) So began a many month long process of interviews in attempt to find the right fit.

The first interview I had was in a building called the Citadel. It is right down town in the loop. A place I had never been. When I walked in I had to be checked in and go to the middle set of elevators after I was given a special pass. I think this pass was to prove that I was not a psycho and should be let passed the security guard. I think they need to increase their security! Either way, it was very over whelming and I felt very out of place. It did, however, lead to more interviews.

Over the last couple of months I have had about 5 interviews in various buildings with different levels of management and also a few phone interviews. It has provided me with great experience in the interview process as well as forced me to go to places in the city that I had never been because I always felt as though I would be out of place.

Finally, I was offered a job and accepted! I start in a little over a week. I am obviously a little nervous to be trained and meet new people, but I am very excited :) It was all in all a fun experience. Probably more fun because it ended well, but it is fun for me to say that I have been inside a few of the most important buildings in the city :)
